As you know, January is often a time to focus on goal-setting and resolutions for the upcoming year. I've decided that this is the year of "no more excuses!"

How many times have you heard yourself say "I really want to ˍˍˍˍˍˍˍˍˍˍˍ (fill in the blank), but I just don't have the time!"  If something is important to you, then it needs to
be prioritized and you need to MAKE the time. What activities are you spending your time on that maybe aren't as important?  Can you stop doing some things, or spend less time on them, in order to create space for what really is important?

I have chosen 3 things to find time for this year - NO MORE EXCUSES!

1. Get in shape:  I recently met with a personal trainer to talk about my health goals and what has been keeping me from reaching them. She helped me to see that I can fit in a simple, efficient workouts every week and reach my goals rather quickly.  My health and energyare very important to me and my family.  Therefore I decided to invest the money and time to work with my trainer twice each week for 30 minutes each time.  In addition, I am working on ways to eat healthier and cook healthier for my family.

2.  Read more:  My generous husband gave me an Amazon Kindle for Christmas.  I am now more motivated than ever to get through that ever-increasing list of "books I want to read."  The Kindle gives me an easy and efficient way to have my "books" with me at all times, and allows me to highlight and make notes and save them electronically. I am already well into my first book of the New Year.

3.  Get our pictures into photo albums:  What good is it to have hundreds of pictures sitting in a box?  I want my children to be able to look back at prior years events and vacations before they are all grown up, and it is fun to watch them relive memories through the photos.  Although I like to scrapbook, I have given up on the lofty goal of getting all of our pictures into nice, creative scrapbooks. Therefore, I have almost completed my first online photo album through Snapfish.com.  Once complete, Snapfish will print it and mail it to me, bound in a nice leather cover - voila!   Many other pictures will go into "old-fashioned" photo albums. If someday I find the time to scrapbook again, I can always pull the pictures back out.

What excuses have you made in past years?  What have you been
putting off because you are prioritizing, and spending valuable time on, the wrong things?  I challenge you to choose 1-3 important actions you can take in 2011 and then schedule them in - NO MORE EXCUSES!
